It’s a parasol not an umbrella

Nice lady in long red dress quickly corrected me when I referred to her parasol as an umbrella.  She was enjoying a day with family and friends at a 4th of July cookout.

Now I know.  Parasol usually refers to an item designed to protect from the sun; umbrella refers to a device more suited to protect from rain.   Never call a fancy parasol an umbrella!

Ladies, do you have a parasol for these hot sunny days?
